So if you suffer through this insufferably long post there's a treat near the end.
Sorry I've been gone so long. I think it's the longest break from blogging I've taken since I started. And it wasn't intentional.
I naturally thought with that being unplugged would mean that I'd find oodles of time with which to do blogs. But when my brain isn't plugged into seeing all my friends - well, it's awake to see just how much there is to do around the house.
And we've been doing.
For example, this last weekend we made...
Way too many valentines for friends. Using three different ideas found here and at Familyfun.com
And we discovered that they take a ton of time to do. My favorite were the melted crayons.
However we discovered that not all crayons are created equal.
Crayola keeps the color all the way through.
The ones from the dollar store leave a film of wax on the bottom.
So spring for some good crayons when you buy them for your kids. This was so fun I think I'll stock up on crayons when back to school supplies go on sale. I think they'd even make cute tree ornaments at Christmas time.
The easiest project was the potted plants.
Thankfully they didn't take too long.
The most time consuming Valentines were the ones where you turn Conversation Heart boxes into little Ipod look-a-likes. We used Hershey's Kisses instead of mini peanut butter cups but I liked how they turned out.
My son thought tinfoil looked just as good as construction paper. He also went the extra step and gave some of the players themed skins.
Of course this one happened to be my favorite.
And I'm still trying to figure out this one.
Lea's class had a contest to decorate their valentine box and she decided to make a fairy house to catch her goodies in. We found it all outside or at the good ole' Dollar store. It's an upside down basket covered with some cheap raffia and plastic plants.
And since we are still unplugged we've been keeping up on the What-were-you-thinking-moments. Like when Evo-man decided to wrap packing tape around his arm and cut off circulation.
Would I be naughty to say that I secretly enjoyed helping unwrap him. Especially when he started yelping at the hair-removal part. That'll show him... Waste my packing tape and...
I also started some of my garden seeds.
Yippie! I can't wait for spring.
Have you suffered long enough???
Just to thank you for sticking around and being such nice bloggy friends even when I'm unplugged I thought I'd throw together another contest.
Make a comment on this post and you could win this Imagine*Believe*Achieve Necklace and Earring set.
And this little Angel that says. 'Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today, and Hope for Tomorrow.
I'll pick a random winner on Feb. 19th. Toodles!

What great projects! The fairy house is so amazing! I'll have to show this to Scout. She'll be thrilled!
Only 2 more weeks to go, right?
Take care and have a really great day,
Shannon
Does this mean we won't see you again until the 19th??? :-(
Love the projects. The fairy house is the best!
I didn't have to suffer at all getting through this post - the pictures help! I'm impressed you made it through all the projects without loosing your mind. I don't have a lot of patience in that area...
My son pretty much takes care of his own Valentine's stuff. he puts together little bags of candies, throws in a computer printed Valentine he designed, and off he goes!
Enjoy yor next 2 weeks "UNPLUGGED"!
I really like the crayon one!! I am remember that one for one day when we need something fun to do. I wish I coudl take the time to be unplugged bbut then how would I know what happens on 24 or Grey's Anatomy?
The crayons are very cool. I've always been a bit of crayon snob. I just think Crayola colors better...
Love all the other projects too... your craftiness amazes me.. and passes in to all sorts of "I could never do that" realms...
and thank you for the award you gave me back before your blogging break. I appreciated it. :)
Love the idea with the crayons. Tooo cute. I'll have to remember them for next yr.
Oh and the V-day box is wonderful. I bet she loved showing it off.
I just found your blog today...and it's funny 'cause I was looking at the iPod valentines last night in the magazine thinking how cute they were.
I'm a Weight Watcher's lifetime member and I'm trying SO hard to satisfy my desire to make treats and my desire to eat healthy foods. This Valentine's Day we made the crayon hearts and it satisfied both urges! The kids and I "baked" treats and I still got to eat healthy! And we, also, found out about the cheap crayons vs. Crayola. Lesson learned.
Love the fairy house, too!
What a fun post:) That looks like a lot of valentines! We'll be lucky to get one for each of the grandparents done, if that(yucky, stinking cold virus!) I had fun making the kids a yummy valentines treat though.
We've made the crayons before,in a regular mini muffin tin, the kids loved it and were very possesive of *their* individual crayons for a while lol. We'll have to do this again soon.
What fun activities you've been doing! The heart activity looks waay cool. I love FamilyFun.com! They have great ideas.
Fawn, you are so talented, I just want to live by you again! What fun you have with your kids!
Insufferable??? Hardly!!! Fawn, you have such amazing ideas... I need to hang out with you more in hopes that you will rub some crativity off on me! Love the crayon valentines... we'll do that for sure next year... infact, that might make a good favor for a little princess birthday party we have coming up this spring. :)
Ooh, i want to win the necklace. Cute crayons.
Oh and you should definitely check out: http://14dayguy.blogspot.com/
I like the fairy house! GTG! Mom's mad as usual. Bye!
You are so creative and patient! I wish you were near me and my two so we could have joined in the Tea Party fun, the making of Valentine's and more. I can't wait for summer. I love your blog and tell people about you all the time.
Way to go! It's hard to take the time to do things like that with your kids, especially when you have to do multiple in depth projects for different kids. No wonder they're so creative. I'm committing to do something like that with my own now.
WOW....you have been busy!!
Those Ipod Valentines are sooo cute!! And I really love the crayons....
Great post!
