Bad Blogger, Bad, Bad, Blogger

I know I have been missing in blog action.   Part of the reason is that computer time has been very rare of late.  Seeing as to the fact that I sneak onto my son’s computer since I no longer have one of my own.  The other reason is that the Unbloggable still dominates darn near every aspect of my life.  And since I woke up from the shocked zombie state, dealing with the emotions are still fresh, painful and ever present.  Not a day passes that I don’t think of something that I really want to vent blog about, but either the subject is off limits or the time is non-existent.

Today, however is a good day.  A day where the teeny tiny silver lining of that huge black unbloggable thundercloud seems a bit brighter.  And I also think the Leprechauns brought me a bit of Luck in the form of a wee amount of time this morning to catch you up to speed.

The wee folks visited last night and of course I snapped pictures of what they brought but for some reason my son’s computer is not allowing me to download those pics.  So instead I’ll share some happenings from the last few weeks.

Spring has sprung.  Finally!  We didn’t really have winter, but the days were gray and short.  Now we have evidence that brighter, warmer days are here – Hopefully to stay.

Spring is the visible reminder of Hope.  And I’m all about hanging onto Hope.

‘…sometimes on a sunny day it began even to be pleasant and genial, and a greenness grew over those brown beds, which freshening daily, suggested that Hope traversed them at night and left each morning brighter traces of her steps.’

from Charlotte Bronte’s ‘Jane Eyre’

Guess What?  I found my very own Rabbit Hole.  Can’t fall into it yet.  It is a bit too tiny for my body but as soon as I find my ‘Drink Me’ potion I intend to take my girls on adventure in Wonderland.  Can’t Wait.

IMG_5270

The Sun has been shining lately and I love it.  Hope complains that it’s burning her eyeballs and she needs me to buy her some fashionable shades.  We’ll see,  I’m sure her eyes will adjust.

We are also starting a Birthday celebrating spree (four in the next month).

IMG_5263

Evo-man started off the birthday run by daring to turn 14.  My mom whipped him together a quilt out of some of his favorite tee-shirts.  I had snuck them out of his room and he couldn’t figure out where they had gone.

IMG_5266

He loves it.  Now, not an evening goes by that he doesn’t snuggle under his new blanket on the couch while watching T.V.

Weekends have been long lately and since I don’t have internet access on weekends, I decided to put some old rusty skills to good use.

I made my first afghan in 19 years.  It’s a gift of thanks for some angels that have sheltered our family through this whole storm.  I hope they like it.

And when I’m not busy as all get out, I’m dreaming.   Two dear friends recently gave me a couple of magazines and craft books that are right along my dream path.

And I found the first picture of my dream kitchen.

IMG_5283

Straight out of my dreams, farm sink, antique (modernized) working stove,  white and blue.  I’m going to plaster these pictures all over my kitchen.  Someday I’ll make this dream come true.

Job’s Wife knew the girls and I would go ga-ga over this find.

Spring 198

Just in time for today, May Day and Fairy Day.

Spring 199

Yep, spring is my favorite season.  So full of promise and magic.  Here’s a wish… Maybe the longer days will afford me more time to blog.

May Day Fun

‘…sometimes on a sunny day it began even to be pleasant and genial, and a greenness grew over those brown beds, which freshening daily, suggested that Hope traversed them at night and left each morning brighter traces of her steps.’

from Charlotte Bronte’s ‘Jane Eyre’

118

I love May Day. Gardening, Spring Flowers, going outside after a long wet winter. This is only the second year our family has really celebrated May Day, but I can only see the tradition getting stronger.

112

This year we did everything we did last year. From the flower crowns, to taking around May baskets to our neighbors.

120

You know to thank them for putting up with us, the screaming kids, and our messy yard for yet another year.

123

Who cares if they were delivered barefoot. It was a gorgeous day.

I really wanted a May Pole but I wasn’t willing to cut a live tree down. I’m still waiting for one to fall naturally that I can save and decorate. Next year – maybe.

2331

This year I added a bit of whimsy that I found in this fun book.

2327

The writer talks about knowing two old ladies that collected the first morning dew of may and used it to keep their skin flawless.

099

Yeah, I know it’s a bit Looney, but I’ve found the best way to encourage my darlings to do something drab and boring, like washing with soap, is to add a bit of the fantastical to the chore.

100

So bright and early this morning I set out to collect some May dew.

106

Just got a tiny bit.

128

Found my sweeties some bud vases at Target, bought some cork tops at the local craft store. I let the girls decorate the tops with glue, gems and flowers. Each vase held a couple of drops of May dew to which I added some body wash.

133

What better way to get them to wash often than to add some whimsical magic to their routine.

134

I Love Spring! and cherry blossoms, and flowery scents.

103

I have to admit it’s finally here. I even got some peas finally planted in my garden. I know I’m a couple of weeks late but considering spring was a few months late I’m hoping I’ll be o.k.

A Spot of Spring.

Spring can’t come soon enough for me.   We just had another blast of winter reminding us that it’s still in charge.

3104

Although spring is trying to fight  back.

3061

And I’m doing my best to nourish the hope of good things to come.  My tomatoes are up and going.3072

The peppers are trying but I think they have an aversion to NW weather.

3069

The kids are busy as always and itching for something to do.  So I send them out to play with power tools.

3049

O.K. Abner’s been busy working on his Eagle project.  Clearing a nature trail and replacing plant identification signs.

3056A

And when not sending my kids around to play with power tools.  I just pray for snow, Yeah, Right (heavy sarcasm added here.)   For when it snows, no matter how sick of it I am, the kids disappear.

 3066

And sometimes they can’t be bothered with shoes.

3063

At least when Hope takes off when there is snow on the ground, she returns quickly.  Humm, maybe I should hide her shoes more often.

3068

My best hope of spring this week arrived in the form of a package from my swap partner Beth of Road to Joy.  We were teamed up in the Luck of the Fae – Fairy Swap.  Hosted by Missy of  Fairychild Heirlooms Weblog.

  3087

When opening my package I was immediately enveloped in a delicious scent I’ve never really sniffed before.  She sent sprigs of orange blossoms in the package and I had to keep going back for delightful whiff’s of sweetness throughout the afternoon.

Inside was a sweet new little fairy whom I immediately named Violet.

3131

I love her dearly and I barely know her.  Immediately I started planning a fairy garden for her and her little abode which was also in my package.

3128

Complete with a darling shelf and crockery.

3117

I’m going to have to spirit her away because my little princesses just couldn’t get enough of her…

 3088

and her sweet hidey-home.

3116.

Fairy Queen Beth also sent me this delightful, delicate Fairy Wand.

  3094

Complete with magic charms galore.

3092

Princess also received her swap package from her Pixie Wand swap partner who was Beth’s daughter.  Can you tell how excited she is?  She was practically levitating with joy at getting a package in the mail.  It might be her first ever package just for her.

    3106

Princess couldn’t wait to dig into her pixie pouch.

3108

Which was charming because it’s reversible.

3112

Pixie dust, fairy charms and a beautiful bracelet along with a flower wand were the goodies she received.

3111

Thanks Beth and daughter!  Now I’ve got to get off my computer and clean up my messy house, dream of spring and find where I put those orange blossoms.    I put these stickers on my laptop to remind me to stop living vicariously through everyone else and start making my own dreams come true.

Global Cooling

Can I tell you that the whole global warming theory is seeming less likely to me by the day. I think it should be called global cooling with the weather we have been having lately. Last night and this morning we were graced with some more of the white stuff. Come on, it's the end of April already. A normal farmgirl would be planting a garden by now.

I have to admit it's still kindof pretty to look at...

And it gives me a good excuse to put off the weeding for yet another day.

Plus, we can pretend the weather is getting warmer and have a little Luau!

Nothing like virgin pina colada's on a cold day. Brrrrr!
