Beware the March Hare!

Spring 1800

Especially if your late for Tea…

Many thanks to Sweet Vanessa of ‘A Fanciful Twist’,for cooking up this Mad Party!

mad party

Be sure to visit the other Mad Festivities happening right now at her Magical Wonderland. Click HERE to visit them all.

Now back to our Mad Tale in Wonder (What-were-they-Thinking)Land. The March Hare loves a good Tea Party but he’s very particular about promptness. So with the help of Mollymkun the Dormouse they planned a perfectly mad party.

Even brought in the Maypole, which the Mad Hatter hat-ed himself.

Spring 1523

With plenty of Lime-Aid Pishalver (shrinking potion), and Frosted Brownies Upelkuchen (growing cake) on hand for emergency use only.

Spring 1585

And Mollymkun even happened to snatch one of the Red Queen’s cakes (Cherry Chip/Red Velvet) for the festivity. Better hope she doesn’t find out or the Dormouse will lose her head.

And before you know it the crazy guests Gallymoggers arrived.

Spring 1542

Even Alice,

And the Queens Croquet Stick.

Some knew of the March Hare’s dislike for latecomers, others did not. Mallymkun could see the March Hare’s temper rising and she tried to calm him down.

Spring 1801

Maybe she should share some of her favorite beverage with him.

Spring 1796

But he wouldn’t be distracted and soon he came up with a madly, wicked idea. “Who’s to Say What is Proper?”

Spring 1813

‘You’re All Late for Tea!’

Poor Dormouse.

Spring 1857

And just like Our Mad, Mad, Mad Party Last Year, the Madness spread around the whole table. And within seconds the food was gone.

Some didn’t know what hit them.

Spring 1556

Others were prepared.

I mean if someone had to throw something at you at least it was food.

Thankfully no one lost their heads, maybe because the Red Queen wasn’t invited, but still, that’s saying something. No one really wants to lose their head.

Spring 1557

And after the food quit flying, the crazies entertained each other with a nice Futterwacken around the maypole.

Spring 1565

Many, many thanks to all who participated in our Mad Tea Food Fight Party. For it is a true friend who can still love you after you subject him to such lunacy.

Have I gone Mad? Why yes, but I’ll let you in on a little secret. All the best people are.

Spring 1833

And with that Lea Alice bid’s you farewell – until next time. Thanks for stopping by.

Arghhhh!

Talk Like A Pirate Day countdown banner
Many thanks to Beth of Road to Joy for giving me an early heads-up on fun.
It's the perfect excuse I've been looking for to turn the mundane into swashbuckling fun. Life is still as though our family was on a voyage through rough seas but the ship is sound and we are plowing through these murky, turbulant waters with stout hearts. Might I say we have the best Captian at our Helm as well. I'm constantly reminded of the quote. 'When Life Sends Storms, Learn to Dance in the Rain.' So that's just it... we are going to have a Jig inspired Pirate Party Day at my house on the 19th.

Humm, I wonder what the young-un's will think of us doing some pillage and plundering of the garden, or looting the Library? Maybe there might even be time for a little viewing of my favorite pirates. Handsome Jack....

Or the Pirate from my youth - Long John Silver from Disney's Treasure Island.

Or my newest villan infatuation. Jason Isaac's Hook from the Live Action Peter Pan.

Be still my black heart. I can't wait.

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Party!

First a Big Thank You to Vanessa for hosting this Mad Party! What a remarkable artistic kindred spirit she is. To see all the other Mad participants you can visit A Fanciful Twist.

mad party

The day began with the tinkling of china tea cups being taken off their dusty shelves.

Summer 384

And a flurry of last minute sugary sprinkling.

Summer 382

Topsy Turvey Yum Yums, although clumsily decorated, eagerly awaited the party guests.

The table was set but where were the tea party feasters???

No where to be found.

This wouldn’t do. The Mad Tea Party needed some guest or it’s hostess would dissolve into a puddle of tears. She had just spent the entire day in the kitchen preparing her delicious treats.

Summer 400

When who should come to her rescue?

I know your thinking the Mad Hatter (Mr.. Lovee Himself)?

Not exactly. But she was graced with the arrival of the Mad Madder Himself. Who arrived in the Nick of Time although Late. He’s always Late! Which drives the Hostess Mad.

Summer 399

And why was he Late? Because he picked up a bunch of character’s from the Mad House. (Whose images are slightly blurred to protect their mental identity.) But Come On – Gilligan?, Barbossa?, and Mrs.. Clause (although I can see how she’d go mad working with and feeding thousands of elves all day).

‘Oh well, how bad can it get?’ thought the hostess. At least the Queen of Hearts didn’t show up and demand her head.

Even the guests were suspicious of each other.

Summer 393

So despite her misgivings she proceeded to serve the hungry inmates loonies.

Summer 409

And it seemed for the first few minutes things would go splendidly, the party was a success and the hostess poured the drink and relaxed.

Summer 405

Then it happened. Someone complained.

That did it. After slaving all day in the kitchen, arranging flowers, greeting crazy mad guests – the Hostess Lost it. And sadly the first person to feel her reaction was the Mad Madder himself. He took a direct hit of Banana Cream Pie to the noggin. And he came up smiling – Official proof of his Madness!

Summer 413

The madness began to spread and soon it was apparent that everyone present was insanely mad. Except one neighbor girl who sanely ran quickly home to report the madness and probably vowed to never accept another invitation to the Mad Hostess’s parties.

As for the Mad Hostess – she got nailed as well. Serves her right – the Mad Lady!

Other than the neighbor girl there was only one causality. Poor little Hope who consistently covers herself with dirt, marker and food on a daily basis couldn’t handle the fact that mom the Mad Hostess actually dumped noodles on her head. Apparently the only mess that is acceptable to her is the one she creates herself. Who’d have known? The Mad Hostess is now saving her pennies for Hope’s future therapy sessions.

Summer 412

Other than Hope the rest of the party’s attendee’s surprisingly claimed the Mad Tea Party a roaring success! The highlight of their evening, if not day (week would probably be pushing it)! And the real reason it was a success is probably because they didn’t stick around to clean up the mess.

Thank heavens for pressure washers.

Summer 419

Ahhhhh, it might take a while for the Mad Hostess to clean all this up.

Oh and thanks for joining us for our Mad Adventure in Wonder(what they were thinking) land.

Toodles,

The Mad Hostess – AKA Fawndear

Bless Him

In the past three days I’ve done absolutely nothing around the house.  Haven’t picked up one thing off the floor, washed one load of dishes, or laundry for that matter.  Had my drinks delivered too me in bed while reading to my hearts content.

relaxing

Why so spoiled?

Maybe because I’m the queen of this house.

sick house

Our family has been attacked by the phlegm/fever monster to the Nth degree.

First Hope and Princess succumbed to it’s nastiness.  Gaining double ear infections, pink eye, rampant fever’s and juicy spewing coughs.  It wasn’t long before their chief nurse (Me) caught up with them.

Does anyone know where we could purchase these here hats?

stuffy head

Prince Erik has been wonderful – taking care of the kids and house.  I’m afraid that he may shortly follow my footsteps because he’s starting to show signs of stuffiness in the head.  Poor Guy!

I pray I’ll feel better soon because there’s an unpleasant aroma leaking out of the laundry room.  And if I can smell it through my stuffy nose it must be bad.

That and the tender seedling in my garden are  pitifully crying for relief from and slugs and snails that ravage their tender shoots nightly.  And the weeds are threatening to strangle what life is left in their little munched on bodies.

Until then I’ll continue to be a good girl and relax as Dr. Prince Erik has suggested I do.  Hopefully speeding my recovery.

I know, in between wiping my nose and making frequent visits to the master throne room I can relax by visiting a wonderfully soothing blog that Beth at Road To Joy turned me onto called

Button Willow Cottage.

button willow

I go there often when I want to connect with my inner Anne-girl.

Another place I love to  take extended brain vacations at is with Vanessa of A Fanciful Twist…

A fanciful twist

In fact I’m fully intending on joining Vanessa at her upcoming Mad  Tea Party on June 27th.  You should come too.

Mad Tea Party

As you know I’m quite mad already and any excuse to dress wild and crazy with my kids is just too much fun to resist.

And while relaxing with my tissue’s and books in bed I can still dream of someday getting a real spa day.  Until then I be happy if Jodi of Beacon of Hope could get her secret wish.  She wants to win a year of spa days and be Sego Lily Day Spa’s Blogger.  Vote for her to win and at least I can get a vicarious spa day every now and then.  Go HERE and leave a comment for her to win.

O.K. now that I’m feeling totally relaxed except for the stuffy hot-head fit to burst I think I'll find another book to read.  And plan on how to pamper my husband when he falls prey to this vicious illness.

Tea Party - Princess Style

Today Princess had her first Tea Party.

2573

Or maybe I should say Punch Party. She donned her apron and we spent the morning in the kitchen making all our last minute goodies. Recipes Here.

2544

Once the food was made we pulled out our favorite serving dishes. See what you can make with a candlestick, fluted plate and a little clear adhesive caulk.

2534

And we pulled out all our favorite tea sets...

2538

and linens.

2537

Put them all together.

2570

Princess got lucky because her Tea Party happened to fall on the same weekend that Grandma came to visit. Lucky because Grandma likes to help clean up all our food making messes.

2555

Then she laid out treats for each of her guests.

2576

And patiently waited for her friends to arrive.

2575

She didn't have to wait long.

2579

The little princess guests also brought their Mommies to keep me company.

2581

The girls and I went all out trying to make a fun little Mommy and Me Tea Party. I don't have special occasion parties very often but I do try to make them really nice when I do. 'Just Because' parties are my favorite. Lea had a tea party when she was six too, and I'm sure that Hope will have one as well.

Now I'm brainstorming a May Day Party - Hmm, does anyone have a May Pole I could borrow?
