It just get's better and better.

So I haven’t been having one of those days, I’ve been having one of those months.

I’m trying, I’m really trying to stay positive. But then little things like this happen.

Insurance called today. They aren’t even going to send someone out to our home to look at the kitchen damage because,

‘We don’t cover slow leaks only catastrophic, big honkin, fire hydrant pipe bursting ones that spew at least 15 gallons of water a second. Who cares if it’s not your fault and you didn’t have a camera installed in your wall to detect the start of your homes downward spiral. And since the contractor couldn’t even determine the cause of the damage it won’t do us any good to send someone out. So fork over the bucks, tear your home apart and if once the walls come down you find a LEAK that spills out say more than a tiny leak would then you can consider calling us back because we may or may not help you then.'

Prince Erik is going to call the guy back and see if he can’t have more luck than I did, but it’s not looking hopeful.

So I’m envisioning ‘Extreme-Home-Make-Over-Demolition-Type-Party for the kitchen. Anyone want to come take out their aggressions on my cabinets, floors and walls – Just let me know? Otherwise I’ll be picturing our Homeowners Insurance Company with each and every $22,000 swing.

That and it looks as if I’ll really have to get another job other than my real one of being a mom.

O.K. my pity-party is over. I’m fine now. Thanks for letting me rant.

I'm sorry... that sounds so stressful! I really hope Erik has better luck with the insurance people. There's got to be some way around it!

Hang in there. You'll get through this. And definitely don't give up on the insurance...I think they hire people just to say 'no' hoping folks will give up and go away. Take a magnifying glass to the fine print on your policy and keep pestering them.

That just isn't fair. They may not want to pay for the damage, but I'm sure they'll raise your premium next year. Hang in there. God just may have a few pleasant surprises up his sleeve. He does that sometimes :)

Well thats just a bummer! Here's hoping you find a way to get the insurance to pony up!

I am so sorry! I agree with Trena Doll. Look REALLY closely at that insurance policy of yours. And applying for Extreme Makeover Home Edition couldn't hurt, either. :-)

Lame!

Well, if you have a demolition party, let us know. We'll be happy to help.

I find that so hard to believe. Insurance isn't just for catastrophes, is it? In any case, I think needing a whole new kitchen should count! I hope it works out. Now is not a great time to find a job.

Insurance companies have an aversion to water. We had a flood in our basement's crawl space (apt. down there)after a sudden, heavy downpour. There had been no signs of water or even dampness in 17 years. The insurance company wouldn't help at all unless we had flood insurance. We live on a hill, in no danger of river flooding. Those companies can be useless. I hope you find a way to turn this "lemon" into "lemonade". If anyone can, you can! Best of luck.

Oh Fawn! What a trying situation...and at the time of year when you really want to be focused on happiness and enjoying the Christmas season--not arguing out insurance coverage.

I would say that instead of trying to get an outside paying job (I always refer to that type as a "paying job," versus the more oft used term "real job." We all know raising kids is a REAL job!), maybe you should explore a paying job based at home. I.e. Pampered Chef, Lia Sophia, The Body Shop, or one of those?
AFTER the holidays, however; allow yourself and your family that luxury, before the reconstruction begins in earnest!

OMGosh!!! Are you kidding me? How incredibly stressful! That just doesn't sound right. I hope you can get this worked out into your favor! You deserve it. Hang in there. You're handling it better than I would. I'd be freakin' going postal!
