Perspective - It's a Good Thing!

It’s amazing what a good night’s sleep, oodles of wonderful blog comments, and just some good old fashioned common sense will do for a gal.

Today was an absolutely wonderful day. Nothing horrible happened. In fact it was downright pleasant and I even took a nap.

I’m 90% hopeful that somehow, someway we will be able to recover all our pictures. It might take a little time, some money, but hope is on our side right now. Prince Erik scoured our other files on the computer and was able to find quite a few. Still no baby ones of Hope but she’s our youngest so I know we will have a better chance of finding some more of her. I then realized that even though we have six years of digital files on the computer. I didn’t covert to digital until 3 ½ years ago so I still have those dreaded shoeboxes stacked in a closet that contain the majority of Princess’s baby pictures. Can’t believe I forgot that yesterday. Being that I’m the main picture taker, you would have thought I’d remember. I guess I’ve been so converted to digital that I forgot about all the film pictures. It seems like more than 3 ½ years ago since I’ve used one of those cameras.

So again, thanks for your positive feedback. You guys are awesome. Sorry I was such a whiner.
Tonight was our Church’s Christmas Party. I stayed home with two sickies and while hubby was out with the older kids, a Christmas Elf stopped by.

I’m torn about this elf because I don’t want whoever it is to feel sorry for us or think us needy, but at the same time our kids are tickled red and green and I’m deeply grateful for such caring gesture. Such a clever fellow he or she was, I’ve just got to share their adorable poem. Maybe I can shamelessly copy the ideas and pass along the wonderful thoughts to someone else next year. With the poem came a darling Christmas tree night light.

Twas the first day of Christmas and all through your house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
‘Cept suddenly one little soul did appear,
It’s your Christmas friend bringing you holiday cheer!

Tonight calls for a partridge for your pear tree with reason,
But partridges are tough catches and pears aren’t in season.
So how ‘bout a tree that when plugged in brings light,
Certainly this will make you squeal with delight!

Tonight the first night we hope you will be glad
To realize that eleven more nights are still to be had.
So from now until Christmas Eve pay attention yourself,
Each night will bring a secret from your own little Elf!

Now beware of this warning – that your friend will be here,
But you better not look, or we’ll quickly disappear!
And then all your gifts that were so carefully planned,
On some other porch they will surprisingly land!

So to our secret Christmas Elf and to all the sweet blog commentors - A Huge Thank you because Y'all made my day today!

Be grateful for your little Elf!! Someone else is thinking of you and probably teaching their children the joy of giving this season. And you get to be the reciepent of such goodness! Glad you had a good day -- a nap always make a day better!!

I am so sorry about your pictures!!! The same thing happened to us back when Kaitlyn was around a year old and we thought we had lost all her baby pictures/videos. Luckily we had a friend who knew how to recover them and we got back almost everything. But we're still missing some videos of when Kaitlyn was first learning to crawl. I still feel really sad when I think about it. You'd think we would have learned our lesson, but I still don't back up our files as often as I should! I hope you're able to get everything back! ♥

Don't be torn about the elf. Be happy! It's sometimes hard to see ourselves as having a NEED (gasp, horrors!) for friendship and good cheer, but we ALL do. There's no shame in it. Embrace it!

I'm glad you're finding solutions to the picture problem. Keep at it! If anyone is capable of turning this tragedy into an opportunity to find, re-claim, and make more memories, it's you.

I have so much empathy for you!! I went through something similar a few years back and even when computer techy brother said to throw in the towel, I didn't. I went to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and for $89 they recovered a HUGE amount more with their state of the art equipment and abilities.

I've been out of the blogging world for a couple of days and was horrified to read your lost your computer pictures! I hope you can miraculously retrieve some. So sorry! Sounds like you've got some awesome elf friends!
